Senior Patrol Leader

  • Preside at all troop meetings, events, activities, and 6-month program planning conference.
  • Run the monthly Patrol Leaders’ Council(PLC) meeting. The SPL must attend all PLC meetings unless sick or extenuating circumstances. When not attending he must inform the Scoutmaster and one ASPL in advance.
  • The Troop400 PLC has many important jobs:
    • 6 month Program Planning
    • Campout Planning using the Troop 400 planning checklist
    • Campout Patrol lists
    • Patrol food assignments (buyers/cooks)
    • Advancement activities
    • Monthly troop meeting planning
    • Arrange outside speakers
    • Plan patrol competitions, game nights
    • Schedule presentations from scouts (Leave No Trace, Chaplains Aid)
    • Special Event Planning (Webelos Day, Christmas Parade)
  • Must lead at least one campout during his term and should attend as many campouts as possible.
  • Assign duties and responsibilities to other Scout leaders.
  • Work with the Scoutmaster in training Scout leaders.
  • Set and enforce the tone for good Scout behavior within the troop.
  • Set a good example.
  • Wear the Scout uniform correctly.
  • Live by the Scout Oath and Scout Law.
  • Show and help develop Scout spirit.
