Quartermaster - Trailer

  • Keeps the troop trailer clean !!! (always, always, always!)
  • The QM has authority to call special cleanup meetings, and if necessary, require attendance of any and all troop members to achieve this goal! Everyone is required to help. The troop’s equipment belongs to everyone, and the QM is just the steward of it for a brief period of time. He deserves our respect and our help.
  • Must attend 50% of campouts during his term unless sick or extenuating circumstances. When unable to attend, must find a volunteer replacement.
  • Function as a member of the Patrol Leaders’ Council (PLC). The trailer QM must attend 50% of PLC meetings unless sick or extenuating circumstances. He must inform the SPL in advance when unable to attend.
  • Keep equipment in good repair.
    • A hand-off from the previous QM at the change of terms is strongly suggested, with input from the adult QM (if available) also advised.
    • Issue equipment and see that it is returned in good order.
    • Patrol boxes must be jointly inspected by the QM and the acting SPL before placing them back in the trailer at a campout! All required items must be present and clean.
    • Common items (lanterns, etc.) must be complete, clean, secure.
    • Washing gear (bleach, etc.) must be separate from food.
  • Keep standard items stocked.
    • Propane, water, wood, lantern mantles, matches, oatmeal, hot chocolate, light batteries.
    • Suggest new or replacement items.
  • Work with the adult QM responsible for equipment.
  • Set a good example.
  • Wear the Scout uniform correctly.
  • Live by the Scout Oath and Scout Law.
  • Show and help develop Scout spirit.
