- Sits in the first patrol chair and leads patrol at troop meetings. Must attend 50% of troop meetings unless sick or extenuating circumstances. When unable to attend, must find APL or other volunteer in advance to lead patrol.
- Must lead patrol on at least one campout during his term. When unable to attend, must find APL or other volunteer in advance to lead patrol on campout.
- Plan and lead patrol meetings and activities.
- Keep patrol members informed.
- Assign each patrol member needed tasks and help them succeed.
- Represent the patrol at all Patrol Leaders’ Council meetings and the 6 month program planning conference. Must attend the annual planning conference and 50% of monthly PLC meetings unless sick or extenuating circumstances. When unable to attend, must find APL or other volunteer in advance to represent patrol.
- Prepare the patrol to take part in all troop activities.
- Show and help develop patrol spirit.
- Work with other troop leaders to make the troop run well.
- Know what patrol members and other leaders can do.
- Set a good example.
- Wear the Scout uniform correctly.
- Live by the Scout Oath and Scout Law.
