Conifer Christmas Parade, 7 December 2013

posted Dec 2, 2013, 12:06 AM by Rob Christie

Hello Scouts and families!

For Troop 400’s fourth year, we will participate in the 31st annual small town Conifer Christmas Parade December 7, 2013.

We have a trailer and a theme – imagine a pitched tent among trees with Scouts holding placards with “scouting dreams” sitting on hay bales.

Last year, we welcomed prospective Webelos from the area Cub Scout packs. Please reach out to anyone you know that would like to be a part of our entry. We met at the Community church for hot chocolate 10 am on the church patio. This was successful and a warm ice-breaker.

  • Please wear your Class A shirt/neckerchief
  • Adults are welcome to march with your sons
  • As the parade begins at 1:30 PM and we are near the front of the parade (entry TBD) please be present by 1:30 latest at the turn (if you cannot attend the hot chocolate party).
  • The parade route begins at WJMS proceeding west onto the frontage road above Loaf n Jug to King Soopers

Wyatt G. ordered a Troop 400 Banner last year – Thanks Wyatt!.

We will have a couple of the younger Scout/Tenderfoot banner carriers

The PLC coined a Troop song. We need the words to the song to teach the Patrol. Come prepared to sing Christmas songs, too.

This year's theme is A Story Time Christmas! Bring ‘em if ya got ‘em – cardboard cutouts of Scout dreams. Be creative!

Q: Are scouts to sign up for this or just show up?

There was no commitment requested – The Troop PLC agreed to participate

Last year we marched 35+ youth and Adults

Q: Are we supposed to bring a bag of candy?

Candy is dandy! Although, too, not necessary. It’s a practice to hand candy to the little ones and you are welcome to hand (not throw) candy. For the Adults, you are welcome to hand out dollars, savings bonds, car keys…

Thanks to everybody that is working toward success!
